About Our Medical Director

Dr. Henry H. Atkins II has been the Medical Director of Westgate Manor since the late 1970’s. After graduating from the University of North Carolina’s Medical School, Dr. Atkins completed his residency at the North Carolina Memorial Hospital. He is a Certified Medical Planner and holds credentials from the American Board of Family Medicine, American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He has also earned a Certificate of Advanced Qualifications in Geriatrics.

Dr. Atkins is a member of the State of Maine Medical Directors Group, State Hospice Directors, American Medical Directors Association, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, American Geriatrics Society and the Maine Medical Association.
