Five-Star Rating, September, 2011

Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions. The quality rating system gives each nursing home a rating of between 1 and 5 stars. Nursing homes with 4 or 5 stars are considered to have “above average” quality.

America’s Best Nursing Homes, 2010 and 2011

U.S. News and World Reports annually recognizes nursing centers that have received the highest-rankings from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Nursing centers are rated on measures of care, nurse staffing and health inspections.

Silver – Achievement in Quality Award, 2009

Our efforts received national recognition when this center was named the recipient of an American Health Care Association (AHCA)/National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) Silver – Achievement in Quality Award.

The AHCA/NCAL Quality Award is modeled after criteria from the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, the nation’s premier recognition for quality achievement.

The Silver award recognizes that the center is dedicated to performance measures, sustainable organizational and process results, and continuous quality and performance improvement. Once achieved, the designation is permanent.

Kindred Healthcare annually distributes the Silver Award of Excellence to its nursing centers that have achieved two consecutive deficiency-free surveys from their respected states.

Each state conducts onsite inspections that determine whether its nursing homes meet the minimum Medicare and Medicaid quality and performance standards. The State conducts inspections of each nursing home that participates in Medicare and/or Medicaid about once a year. During the nursing home inspection, the State looks at many aspects of quality. The inspection team consists of trained inspectors, including at least one registered nurse.

Pinnacle Quality Insight is an independent customer satisfaction firm serving more than 1,100 health care providers in 45 states. The Best in Class awards are given to nursing centers scoring in the top 10% for specific areas of quality service. Centers are ranked based upon monthly patient, resident, and family survey results, as well as side-by-side comparisons with similar nursing centers across the nation.

Excellence in Action Award, 2009 (C), 2010 (C)

My InnerView recognizes nursing homes for outstanding customer and employee satisfaction. The annual Excellence in Action award highlights facilities that scored “excellent” when asked about recommending a facility for care (residents and families) or as a place to work (employees). This honor recognizes nursing homes that achieve the highest levels of satisfaction excellence, as demonstrated by overall customer (C) or workforce satisfaction (W) scores that fall within the top 10 percent of My InnerView’s database - the largest skilled nursing facility database of its kind in the U.S.

Carrying the Torch of Excellence Award, 2009

Maine Health Care Association’s Advancing in Excellence – Carrying the Torch of Excellence award was presented to Westgate Manor in 2009.

Five centers throughout Maine were chosen to receive this award. Centers were chosen based upon their advancement in creating a home-like atmosphere for patients and residents.

A Fortune Magazine Most Admired Company, 2009, 2010 and 2011
Kindred Healthcare, our center’s parent company, has been a Fortune magazine Most Admired Healthcare Company for the last three years.  The Most Admired list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations.  Fortune magazine ranks companies within industries, based on nine different “attributes of reputation.”  To create the industry rankings, surveys were sent to over 4,000 executives, directors, and analysts to select the 10 companies they admired most.
